How is retrenchment compensation calculated in India?

Under Section 70 of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 (in force since 21 November 2025; it replaced Section 25F of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947), the general baseline for a "worker" is 15 days' average pay for every completed year of continuous service, or any part exceeding six months, plus one month's notice or pay in lieu. That Code applies to "workers", not every employee. Kagaz does not compute this figure — the free severance calculator estimates gratuity, notice pay, and leave encashment, not retrenchment compensation.
